1. Positioning the Bat:
Before the match starts, each player places a bat on the side of the table they will be hitting into. The match can not commence until both players agree on the position of their bat. If a bat is unintentionally moved during a point, the player can place it back in it's original spot.
2. Determining the Serve:
Players play rock, paper, scissors to decide who serves first.
1. Serving:
Just as in table tennis, the ball must bounce on the server’s side of the table when served.
2. Serve Sequence:
- In the long-form game (BATZ Point at 21), each player has 5 consecutive serves.
- In the short-form game (BATZ Point at 11), each player has 2 consecutive serves.
- If both players are on BATZ point, serve alternates after each serve
3. Objective:
The goal is to hit the bat on the opponent’s side of the net. All shots should attempt to hit the BAT. Winning a point having made no attempt to hit your BAT is considered "bad form" and can be appealed to be replayed.
1. Scoring Points:
Like table tennis, a point is awarded when your opponent fails to return a shot onto the opponents side of the table. This rule applies to all points except the final point of the game, which is BATZ Point.
2. BATZ Point:
The game is played until one or both players reaches BATZ Point. This is the 21st point in the long game or 11th in the short game.
3. Winning BATZ:
Once on the score of BATZ Point, to win the game a player must hit the bat, and not have the shot returned by their opponent.
Additional Consideration
Any shot that hits the BAT but bounces back over to the player’s side of the table is considered a return by your opposition and must be played. Stay on your toes!
With these rules in mind, you’re all set to enjoy the thrilling, dynamic and ridiculous gameplay that only Batz can offer. Get ready for a game that’s as ludicrous as it is fun, and may the best player win!
